In the spring of 1999, the Men's Navy Rugby team went to Ireland for some friendly competition. They played against a few local teams and, keeping up with tradition, traded shirts with the players. I'm not sure Devin's competitor would have ever parted with his club's t-shirt had he known he was sacrificing it for a boxy cardboard Hanes husky in return. From that day forward, I have searched for a shirt that matches its fit and feel. It's like butter-- Kerrygold butter. This shirt is so beloved that it is still folded in a place of honor in our closet more than 25 years later. For decades I have searched for something similar. Regrettably, this American version isn't quite its Irish counterpart, but it's the closest I have found thus far. The material is soft yet heavy. It drapes rather than clings.
